What is an AI Chips
AI chips are artificial intelligence chips that refer to an AI-driven chip design that involves using artificial intelligence to speed up the process and increase accuracy and precision.
AI chips handle multiple operations simultaneously due to their optimization for parallel processing. It uses AI technologies such as machine learning in tool flow design
it is a specialized integrated circuit designed to perform AI-related computations efficiently.
These chips are commonly used in various applications, including natural language processing, autonomous vehicles, image recognition, and many more, where rapid and efficient data processing is required.
The artificial intelligence system is actually designed to copy the intelligence of humans. Whereas we can say, the regular Chips are handling intelligence.
The benefits of AI chip design are enhanced PPA, faster design migration, and support for reuse. It also improves productivity.
What is Nvidia?
Nvidia is a US-based company that has held around 90% of China’s artificial intelligence superconductor market. Nvidia plans to mass-produce AI chips designed for China in the second quarter of 2024. The chip for China will be called H20, which is the most powerful chip among all the others developed by Nvidia.
Despite Nvidia’s new initiative in China, many different China-based companies are investing in and creating AI chips. Some big companies are Huawei, Alibaba, Cambricon Technologies, and Horizon Robotics.
Also, world-leading companies like Google and Intel are trying to invest in AI chip technology as it is the rising star of today’s era.
Specifications of Blackwell B200, the new AI chip
Jensen Huang, who is the CEO of NVIDIA, is famous for GPU production for gaming.
The new initiative for this company that has caught everyone’s eye is the Blackwell B200 chip, Nvidia’s new wonder chip for the AI industry.
In terms of specifications, they have some spicy and mouthwatering features like processor memory speed, cost, and energy consumption.
It has the Processor for trillion parameter scale generative AI. When talking about memory, it contains 864 GB of fast memory.
Next generation avatar for the H100 chip is also an invention of Nvidia.
B200 offers up to 20 PETAFLOPS of FP4 power, where the PETAFLOPS is the unit of measure for the calculating speed of a computer equal to one quadrillion floating-point operations per second.
It has 208 billion transistors, which is 3 times more than H1000, which has 80 billion transistors.
This Blackwell B200 chip Reduces cost and energy consumption by 25 times the normal ones.
Its unique feature is plugging 36 CPUS and 72 GPUS into a single liquid-cooled rack.
What is the cost of AI Chips?
The CEO of Nvidia says that the Blackwell B200 artificial intelligence chip will cost between 30000 and 40000$.
Over time, the cost of AI chips for different nodes has increased from 5000$ to 30000$. Which includes the total production cost plus the annual energy cost.
Difference between Normal Chips and AI Chips
AI chips handle multiple operations simultaneously due to their optimization for parallel processing where, whereas usual chips cannot perform this many multiple operations
The AI chips tend to be thousands of times faster than the usual CPU chips for training and interfacing of AL algorithms.
The workload handling capacity of AI chips is very high because they work mainly on the logic side and handle the intensive data processing of the workload.
The AI chips represent the particular category of semiconductors produced to facilitate on-device AI capabilities.
The artificial intelligence system is actually designed to copy the intelligence of humans. Whereas we can say the usual chips handle intelligence. Unlike the general-purpose CPUs, AI chips incorporate design features optimized for distinct processing methodologies.
Does mobile have an AI Chips?
We are witnessing the revolution of AI industries in many applications. Along with all these applications, the mobile industry also has great potential to utilize this discovery of AI chips to develop something new and small that can fit into the hands of users.
These devices are mainly equipped with dedicated AI chips and powerful processors, enabling them to perform complex functions and tasks without using cloud-based processing.
Some companies like Qualcomm and Media Tek have launched smartphone chipsets that enable the processing power required for AI applications.
Smartphone giant companies like Samsung are discussing their new phones with Smart AI features.
Smartphones using Artificial intelligence will not only remain smart, but they will also change into something revolutionary. This is still an ongoing process; many giant companies are talking about their AI phones this year.
AI features in smartphones.
Smartphone makers say that AI-based devices will improve security gear and make it even faster. It will cause an inferencing neural network on your device to help capture better and perfect photos and identify music. It will also assist with gaming and increase understanding of different languages. This is also known as on-device AI.
It will change the whole experience with the mobiles and the interaction with apps; this on-device AI will create better applications with a user-friendly interface while reducing the processing time and will surely increase storage, RAM and other vital specifications of smartphones.
What is GPU
Generally, the GPUs are used to train the AI models. It is a graphics processing unit known as a specialized processor initially designed to accelerate graphics rendering. These GPUs can help process many amounts of data in parallel.
These GPUs are developed for high-performance graphics and running games and videos without any rendering effect. So basically, these GPUs are regular general-purpose chips.
Who is Jensen Huang
The Jensen is not the name of the founder of Nvidia; it is Jen-Hsun “Jensen” Huang. He was born in Tainan, Taiwan. He is an American businessman, electrical engineer, co-founder, president and CEO of Nvidia.
He was born in 1963. When he was 5 years old, his family moved to Thailand. You all must have wondered if he was born in Taiwan and raised in Thailand and how he could be an American businessman. This is because when he was 9 years old, his parents and brother went to the United States to live with his uncle.
Who happens to live in Tacoma, Washington. Jensen received his undergraduate degree from Orgon State University in 1984, and from Stanford University, he received his master’s degree. He was an electrical engineer but invented something so fascinating in computers.
After he finished college, he started working with AMD (advanced micro devices), a rival company of Intel; there, he was a microprocessor designer and a director at LSI Logic.
How Nvidia was founded
As Nvidia was coming to trends in recent days people must have questions like. How Nvidia was founded Nvidia was founded by 3 people: Jensen Huang, Chris Malachowsky, and Curtis Priem. Jensen Huang, the co-founder of Nvidia, became its CEO and president. But before that, he served as a chief executive for three decades.
Chris Malachowsky is an engineer at Sun Microsystems. Curtis Priem is a senior staff engineer and graphic chip designer at IBM and sun microsystems.
Nvidia is created from two terms amalgamation. One is Invidia, the Latin word meaning envy, and the first two letters, NV, represent the following vision.
The initial focus of this firm is to develop graphics-based computing and video games. From the start, this small initiative became the most significant industry in the times we know it as the gaming industry.
Nvidia has become a pioneer of GPU technology, which has the unique qualities lacking by standard CPU in processing; it has multicore and parallel processing speeds. Which created a revolution in the gaming industry.
Why do we need artificial intelligence?
In AI, syllogisms are used in systems designed to reason about knowledge and draw conclusions based on that knowledge.
Syllogisms in AI systems are based on creating a knowledge base containing information about the domain being modelled. The AI system then uses this knowledge base to draw logical conclusions based on the information contained in the premises.
