Hezbollah, a political party in Lebanon, has been designated as a terrorist organization by some countries due to its ongoing threats and attacks against Israel. Israel’s retaliation against Hamas has heightened political tensions. In this blog, we aim to comprehend the role of religion in the conflict between Hamas and Israel.

What is Ummah

The English translation of this simple word is “Community,” representing both a sentimental and political concept in Islam that advocates for the Universal Community of Muslims. This theory is based on the monotheistic laws of “Tawhid.”

“This Ummah is interdependent, and what harms one will cause pain to all.” This sentence is crucial for understanding every conflict occurring in the Muslim world.

Israel, as a Jewish nation, initiated its retaliation against Hamas in response to a heinous act committed against Israeli citizens. As the attack on Hamas unfolded, the Muslim world became divided into two groups: Islamic countries like Turkey, Iran, and Syria expressed strong opposition, while some other Islamic nations criticized Israel but refrained from taking significant action against it.

Hezbollah

This political party is recognized as a terrorist organization by some countries. The name Hezbollah means ‘Party of Allah,’ and the group is backed by Iran.

Hezbollah, which supports the Palestinian group Hamas, claimed responsibility for one of the 11 attacks carried out on Thursday, targeting an Israeli barracks in Mattat, a village abutting the Lebanese border.

The Israel-Palestinian conflict began on October 7 after a deadly attack by Hamas in southern Israel, followed by Israel’s massive air and ground offensive on the Gaza Strip.

Since then, Israel and armed groups in southern Lebanon—approximately 200km (124 miles) from the Gaza Strip, notably Hezbollah—have engaged in frequent back-and-forth exchanges across the United Nations-patrolled Israel-Lebanon border.

‘Will turn Beirut into Gaza’

Israel lost about 1150 people, and more than 17,000 Palestinians have been killed in this dangerous war.

Hezbollah is a highly prominent organization, and it is very powerful, unlike Hamas. Russia also favours Hamas and Hezbollah, and Putin aims to keep the focus of the Western world on Israel vs. Hamas. If Ukraine’s funds get stopped by the USA and European nations, Russia will have a significant advantage over Ukraine.

If the tapestry of war follows Hezbollah, the scale of the conflict will increase even more. Wars affect not only the lives of people but also the economy and social structure.

“If Hezbollah chooses to start an all-out war then it will, by its own hand, turn Beirut and southern Lebanon, not far from here, into Gaza and Khan Younis,” Netanyahu said while visiting troops near the border.

Benjamin Netanyahu

After this warning by Benjamin Netanyahu, the war might take a hazardous turn for both Israel and Palestine. Israel was already facing a five-front war initially, and it has a good record of winning. But what about the losses?
