Introduction

Biology is one of the most straightforward and vast fields among all the world fields, which we use to study in a highly complex way. The word BIOLOGY itself telling us the meaning of this field that is “SCIENTIFIC STUDY OF LIFE.”

It’s a combination of BIOS– Life & LOGY– Branch of science; these words have an ANCIENT GREEK origin. There was an English word “LIFELORE” for biology in the ancient era, which is very rare in use today.

Besides this traditional and lengthy stuff about biology, I would like to invite u to “My Biologia Park,” which helps u in understanding biology more interestingly and easily.

I would like to call it a Game of Guessing; let’s Play the Guessing game now; even a newbie Child can also win this game because he can also guess that cows and plants are living things and cars and papers are non-living things, that’s it!. You are the winner, now as a reward; here u reach the gate of my biologia park, now let me open all the gates of my park for u, step by step.

For a long time, we used to study and hear that “CELL is the functional and structural unit of life,” but I always have an essential WWW syndrome (why? Who? What?) It allows me to think thoroughly, and I hope this can be a convenient trick for you.

This life is evolved day by day as the pedigree of life rises from a unicellular organism. Many Biologists have worked on this phenomenon of study and origin of life and came out with fascinating theories. It always started with the Greeks, Brilliant they were. Let’s do the time jump and see what they did in the past.

Biology : Theories of life

1. Spontaneous Generation Of Evolutionary Biology –Given by Aristotle (384-322 BC)

Statement –“living organisms developed from non –living matter.” The term ‘Abiogenesis’ has coined from this theory

Example –

  • Scene 1– It is an old trick to trick the mouse; all you need to do is wrap his favourite food in the cloth and place it in the trap cage. Ancient Tom and Jerry stuff, Nothing new, after few days you found that there are many mice were get trapped in it.

Conclusion: here, the spontaneous theory says the mouse is found there because of cloth (non-living) means that cloth gives birth to mice.

  • Scene 2 –for better clearance, you can take the example of an open jar with a piece of flesh in it there; you can observe small flies wandering around that jar and maggots on the flesh.

Conclusion: here theory says those flies are produced from that flesh.

Note:  As this study is totally based on untested observations and leads to many misbelieves and has its impact for a more extended period, it also doesn’t have a scientific base. Wait! Now don’t blame me because I mentioned that Ancient Greeks were the brightest; sometimes, Genius people do talk stupid.

2. Panspermia Of Evolutionary Biology –Proposed by Greek Philosopher Anaxagoras (500-428 BCE)

Statement –life is present everywhere in the Universe and is traveling as a SEED from planet to planet via comets, radiation pressure, and microorganisms embedded in rocks

Example –

  • Scene 1 –Any microorganism causing disease, like any bacteria or virus due to which we fall ill.

Conclusion: According to him, those microorganisms are distributed in the form of space dust and the meteoroids in the different galaxies; according to Anaxagoras, SEEDS came on earth via asteroids, comets, and also by spacecraft and germinate on the earth surface. See, He was from those Ancient Aliens fanatics club.

Note: Simply, the theory says life is germinated from seed fallen down on the earth from space, and living organisms popped out like fruit from the plant.

3. Biogenesis Of Evolutionary Biology –Proposed by Louis Pasteur (1864)

Statement –It is a production of new living organisms.

“Living things come only from other living things” that are through reproduction. Louis claimed that,

“Virchow’s doctrine Omnis cellula e cellula.”

ALL CELLS FROM CELLS

Example –

  • Scene 1– Louis ignored the Ancient Chit chat, and this time he boiled, cooled, and kept the flesh open for some time; after waiting for the results, he saw microbial growth, showing spontaneous generation. Finally, in the attempt of 1768 by Lazzaro Spallanzani, he did some modifications in the experiment like he removed all the air from the container containing a piece of flesh and close it tightly, and he saw no microbial growth has occurred

Conclusion: The theory concludes that microbial growth is seen only in areas that are already contaminated; otherwise, microbes will not grow.

Note: Louise Pasteur disproves the theory of ABIOGENESIS that is living things from non –living things, and the theory of panspermia about life evolution. The empirical formula of Louis Pasteur was summarized in one phrase,

“Omne vivum ex vivo”

That is

“ALL LIFE FROM LIFE. “

As we have so many things yet to explore, I hope you enjoyed today’s expedition in My Biologia Park, so I will develop many more exciting facts.
